Today is the supposed day that my landlord et al are going to make my heater a working reality. Besides the fact that I'm completely skeptical this is going to happen, they told me they were going to start at 8:00 am. Why must this happen on my late day? Grr. Now I'll be grumpy all day.

So I dragged myself out of bed at an abnormally early time (again, grrrr) and took my car to get its oil changed. While waiting I was perusing the election ballot. *sigh* With each election I find myself getting more and more frustrated with the state government. Why don't they have the balls to legislate and govern this state? Why must we the people (or, more likely, special interest groups) have to go through the initiative process to get something as basic as funding for a public good such as working levies? I'll be voting next week, as always, but I won't be happy about it.

Last night I spent a bit of time getting to know my apartment neighbors in a progressive sort of thing. Unfortunately, they didn't actually tell me there was going to be a progressive dinner until an hour before it was going to happen so it's not like I had anything to contribute. But they seemed ok with my complete lack of preparedness (it was only my fault in that I have nonexistent party type foods lying around my kitchen) so I decided to be sociable and skip the game night thing I'd planned on attending.

We started out at Roger's with wine and cheese then moved on to Kristen's (upstairs above me) for beer and hummus, we cruised through my apartment just looking, then ended up at Stephanie's for margaritas and chips. I was a trifle buzzed there by the end and I'm happy that my stomach didn't revolt with that combination of alcohols!

You know I'm totally nosy, so I loved the opportunity to check out the three other apartments. Nobody's is exactly the same and it was fun spotting all the differences (and I don't just mean in decor, but in structure and room compenent type things). We all have wood floors, for example, but mine is the lightest. We all have crazy different heaters - all big and bulky and rather ugly in separately ugly ways :)

Anyway, all three neighbors are good people and it was really fun chatting with them and getting to know who I live next to. But I think the other two ladies are particularly nice and friendly (Roger is a trifle strange). I feel pretty lucky to have gotten such great neighbors. Yay!

My toes are going numb in the coldness of my apartment (they haven't actually started working on my heater yet). Guess that means it's time to go to work!
