Happy New Year!
Feb. 9th, 2005 07:24 pmI couldn't be happier that the year of the cock has finally arrived! I'm just going to (very immaturely) go around saying cock for the next lunar year. cock cock cock cock cock. Sorry. I said immature, didn't I? I wasn't joking.
Strangely enough, it's also Ash Wednesday. I never noticed these two events coinciding before. Maybe I just wasn't paying close enough attention. But even though I don't work at a Catholic university any more, I've been seeing students walking around with ashes on their foreheads. It kinda shocks my secular self each time I see it.
Anyway, let the season of guilt begin. Bleeech, Lent and Easter were always my least two favorite Catholic seasons (remember, I was raised Catholic, so I'm only saying this because I lived it for soooooooooo many years). I always refer to these next two or so months as the season of guilt. Why can't the Catholic church ever focus on positive things? Hmm? How about 40 days of happiness and joy? Guess that would be bad for keeping the masses under the thumb of the "man" and all.
Well, let me just end this before this ends up being a diatribe against the Catholic Church. Happiness and joy to everybody in the year of the cock :]
