Heh, it's my first post of the new year. Should I do one of those resolution jobbies or just skip it and do the usual whining? Hmmm... I think I can combine both so here goes.
My big new year's resolution, besides the ever-present lose weight and eat better, is to consume fewer disposable products this year. Things like paper towels, plastic utensils, plastic grocery bags, etc. I've already started by buying some of those annoying reusable grocery bags. For some reason, walking home with the plastic bags is easier but I'm trying to reduce. At least I was able to get some sweet black and pink bags (fashionable!). I think using reusable products relating to food means using more water (just cause me a negative nelly) but I'm hoping that's better than using excessive plastics.
I'm also going to try using less energy (heh, gas, electric, etc. not personal energy) this year, but I don't know how much lower I can go. For example, in 2008 I used less than eight (8!!!!) full tanks of gas the entire year. You read that right, less than eight full tanks. However, this year I'm already feeling the need to do not one but two roadtrips. Also, I'm already pretty energy conscious at home (my last couple gas and electric bills averaged $7 and $17 respectively) but I'm going to try to do more. I have to tell myself every little bit counts, even if it's only a little bit.
So there you go. Happy 2009 everybody!
