The title of his article in the February issue of the journal puts it plainly: "Blood pressure reactivity to stress is better for people who recently had penile-vaginal intercourse than for people who had other or no sexual activity." Mr. Brody, a professor of psychology at the University of Paisley, in Scotland, reports in far-from-titillating scientific prose the results of his study of 50 people who kept diaries of their sexual activity and vital signs. In addition to measuring blood pressure, he used brain-imaging devices to gauge the role of oxytocin and of nerve activity on overall health. Not so sexy.
A practical way of measuring the other benefits of sex, Mr. Brody found, was to measure his subjects' performance in public speaking and doing arithmetic aloud after intercourse compared with, say, after masturbation.

The article goes on from there. But I just want to know two things 1) did anybody hear my hysterical laughter? and 2) how can one sign up to participate in such interesting experiments?
My curiosity provoked, I went to read the full article in Biological Psychology (I can email anybody the full-text if you'd like ;) and got utterly distracted by some of the other articles in the same issue:
Examination marks of male university students positively correlate with finger length ratios (2D:4D)
Judging female figures: A new methodological approach to male attractiveness judgments of female waist-to-hip ratio
If any student ever came up to me and asked for articles on how finger length relates to grades, I would have laughed my ass off and said nobody would waste their time on such stupid research. And to think somebody is probably getting tenure with the help of these types of articles.
