label me a waffler
Feb. 4th, 2008 01:11 pmTomorrow's the big California primary. Heh, the only super thing about it is the "super" line I exepct I'll be waiting in to cast my ballot. Yeah, my polling place is small and my precinct seems to like to vote before and after work (does that make us professional or just slaves to the wage?).
The hardest part of democracy for me (well, besides the caring), is the whole deciding who to vote for thing. With the help of friends and sample ballots, I've finally figured out that I can request either a democratic or independent party ballot (the republicans, on the other hand, are more stingy with theirs) even though I'm a registered non-partisan.
Ok, fine, looks like I'm good to have some democratic party voting fun. But who to vote for? I've duly filled out a "candidate match" poll or two with completely unhelpful results. (Although Mike Gravel seems like he was pretty cool... back in the 1970s!). I've read some endorsements. But still, who to vote for?
And another thing I hate about California politics? Every election eve feels like the night before finals as I try to figure out the maze of $#&@ propositions. This is why I refuse to sign any of those stupid petitions, no matter how worthy I think the cause may be. No way in hell am I encouraging more of this crap. Anyway, there are a few I know I don't support. I think I'll vote against the others just because. It's not exactly mature, but hey, you waste my time and I'll waste your signature gathering effort$.
